One issue we creators run into is ourselves. We get stuck in our heads and believe if we step away from what we know, we’re cheating. We’re not being true to ourselves. But that’s not the case. It’s when we refuse to leave our comfort zone our growth dies, and our stubborn nature blocks us.
And this is the idea I’m seeing with the Seven of Swords reversed. Let me elaborate.
We must open our minds to change and rethink the approach we take. And if we do, victory awaits. Because the power of success or demise lies within our hands. On the left side, two swords wait for a choice. We must use our minds (Air/Swords) with logic and seek the best path forward. The right hand accepts the other three swords with vigor. They’re pointed up, ready to engage positively. So, while the five swords carried can imply a struggle, it depends on us.
Do we slip back into the upright nature of the card and deceive ourselves with no forward movement? Or do we allow the reversed position to move us through the struggles as we become agile in our creative approach? That choice is ours. What we tell our subconscious becomes reality, as seen with the two swords planted into the ground. The blue edge suggests a sharp emotional battle that’s in conflict with the pure intentions of the white side of the blade—the yin and yang — the balance within. We know what’s required, but do we follow the lighted path?
The left-hand holds the key, and it can symbolize the death and decay of our decisions. If we don’t use caution, then our stubbornness can cripple our every step.
This moves me to the next point—that which can help us through that which hinders. The Moon and it’s number of 18.
What helps, we should never fear the unknown. Instead, we must pay attention to our dreams and aspirations. Only then can we find the true journey forward. The moon lights the path for us. We can see the roadblocks that held us back. And when we add the eight to the one, it becomes clear.
The nine, the Hermit, gives the answer. It’s when we learn to turn within and let go. Our mask becomes lifted, and the truth is clearly seen. We held ourselves from the next step in our creative trek. We didn’t allow the sun to shine. Our ability for self-reflection became blocked. Because when we add the Moon (18 = 8+1=9) and Seven of Swords (7), we derive once more the number seven (9+7=16=6+1=7).
The decision and endurance required for the action needed. The finding of what we sincerely desire in our creative process. Which takes us to a place of soul-searching, the Hermit and the Moon.
